Eurocode Calibration Studies

As part of the latest Eurocode Standards updates, prEN1990-2 for the assessment of existing structures is being published. In line with this new standard, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) is undertaking a national study to apply reliability-based analysis in the assessment of bridges in Ireland.

RDS’s role in this project, as a subconsultant to Arup, is to perform probabilistic reliability-based assessments on a representative sample of road bridges across the national roads network. This work will inform the calibration of partial safety factors and reliability targets to be including in the upcoming National Application Document (NAD) for prEN1990-2. The outcomes will ensure a scientifically calibrated, nationally harmonised reliability framework that aligns with European standards while reflecting Irish conditions and practices.
